Hydrilla is an underwater plant that can rapidly grow from the bottom of the lake or pond and reach the top of the water. They can reach up to 20 feet high or more in length, because of the size and it rate of growth they have become an ecological threat. Since it can grow almost in any condition, it gives it an unfair advantage and it out competes other n native plants. Large infestations of Hydrilla can cause oxygen depletion affecting fish populations.
